Coincidence 3

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
At Queensland Uni there were market type stalls selling stuff to students. One such stall was selling books and the prices were very low. I took up a book, the collected short stories of Katherine Mansfield - a hard back complete with dust jacket. For $3! I put it down again though. I resist the temptation to buy books. But after wandering around a bit I came back and paid my $3 - after all, I told myself, I am reading as many short stories as I can and I knew of her reputation. So I felt quite pleased with myself.

After the launch of my friend's book and a cup of coffee with him and friends I made my way to the car - pausing to visit the Art Gallery as you may already know. So far so good. On the way home I turned on the radio as I sometimes do and the book reading was just commencing. It was a story by Katherine Mansfield. What are the probabilities of that coincident occurring? I don't suppose it is the Cosmos talking to me but...

The story was, "A Cup of Tea", a wonderful story perfect in every way. So that was an added pleasure. Later I read the story in the book. They had made it a bit shorter as it happened but the shortening was skilfully done. So now I am keen to read more. It's a bit like "On first reading Chapman's Homer".
